March 20th : The Express Alumni Weekly Report:

Division I:

Ohio State 19, Detroit Mercy 6

The Buckeyes dominated Detroit Mercy this week. Matt Caputo (LuHi ’22) recorded his first ever hat trick. His performance also included a ground-ball and a caused turnover. Dillon Magee (Lovejoy ’22) also had a great day with 2 goals and an assist. Magee also picked up 3 ground-ball’s.


Notre Dame 18, Michigan 8

The Fighting Irish had a great day against the Wolverines backed by a great group of Express alumni. Pat Kavanagh (Chaminade ’18) had a 10 point performance with 4 goals and 6 assist’s. He also picked up 2 ground-ball’s and had a caused turnover on the ride. His brother Chris (Chaminade ’21) had a hat trick to add to the offensive efforts. Reilly Gray (Chaminade ’19) also added a goal in Notre Dame’s 18 point performance. In net, Liam Entenmann (Chaminade ’19) had 11 saves and Alex Zepf (Chaminade ’21) had 2 saves to hold Michigan to only 8 goals. Will Lynch (Chaminade ’21) had 2 face-off wins and a ground-ball. For the Wolverines, Jake Bonomi (St. Anthony’s ’19) had 1 assist and 2 ground-ball’s. Ryan Schriber (Wilton ’19) picked up another 5 ground-ball’s and also has 2 takeaway’s.


Syracuse 16, Hofstra 8

Danny DeSanti (St. Anthony’s ’16) had a fantastic goal for Hofstra as he came down on a clear, pulled a spin move, and scored. He also posted an assist and ground-ball this game.


Georgetown 22, High Point 10

The Hoya’s had a fantastic day against High Point. Starting goalkeeper Michael Scharfenberger (Deerfield ’21) had 6 saves between the pipes. On offense, Declan McDermott (Pleasantville ’18) had 2 goals to help Georgetown secure this win.


Stony Brook 18, St. John’s 8

Another great performance from Pallonetti and Huber, gave the Seawolves a win at home. Dylan Pallonetti (Ward Melville ’19) had a 7 point performance with 4 goals and 3 assists. Dylan also picked up 3 ground-ball’s. Jonathan Huber (St. Anthony’s ’17) had 3 goals for Stony Brook’s offense to help in win against St. John’s.


Fairfield 12, Hofstra 11

Goalkeeper Will Snyder (St. Anthony’s ’22) recorded 7 saves on the day for Fairfield. Rob Moore (West Hampton ’21) had 2 assist’s and picked up a ground-ball as well in win over Hofstra.


Maryland 14, Virginia 13 (OT)

Evan Zinn (Staples ’18) took one all the way to the house and put it in the back of the net on a hard step-down shot. He also picked up a ground-ball in a tough overtime loss for Virginia.


Boston 23, Holy Cross 9

Jimmy O’Connell (Cary ’21) had a goal and an assist for the Terriers offensive unit. Roy Meyer (Chaminade ’19) picked up two ground-ball’s and also had 2 takeaway’s. For Holy Cross, Dean DiNanno (Wilton ’19) had 2 goals and picked up 3 ground-ball’s. Matt Major (St Anthony’s ’20) had an assist, a ground-ball, and a caused turnover.


Marquette 12, Penn State 11

In upset lose to Marquette, face-off man for the Nittany Lion’s Chase Mullins (Bullis ’22) had 6 win’s and 3 ground-ball’s.


Manhattan 9, Sacred Heart 7

Our Sacred Heart Express alumni had a great day in close match up with Manhattan. Starting goalkeeper for Sacred Heart Alex Pazienza (St. Anthony’s ’20) had 9 saves this game going 50%. Johnny Morgan (New Fairfield ’19) had 1 goal and picked up 2 ground-ball’s for the Pioneer’s. Jack Ramsay (St. Anthony’s ’21) had 3 ground-ball’s and a caused turnover on the day.


Mount St. Mary’s 16, LIU 13

Senior Defenseman Nick Grant (Commack ’19) had a great performance this week against Mount St. Mary’s with two caused turnovers. He also picked up 2 ground-ball’s.


Duke 15, North Carolina 8

Freshman stand-out Charles Balsamo (Chaminade ’22) continues to dominate for the Blue Devils this season. Balsamo put one in the back of the net and picked up 3 ground-ball’s in win over North Carolina.


UPenn 9, Princeton 8 (OT)

A battle at the face-off X in this game between two of our Express alumni. Ethan Constanzo (Taft ’22) went 3 for 3 on the day and also picked up 3 ground-ball’s. Tyler Sandoval (Chaminade ’19) had 5 wins at the X and also had 2 ground-ball’s.


Villanova 10, Monmouth 6

Freshman Ryan O’Rourke (Chaminade ’22) had his first ever career goal for Monmouth this week. Mason Reale (Westport ’19) had 3 assists for Villanova. Austin Fraser (Hendrick Hudson ’18) put on in the back of the net and also had an asset in win over Monmouth.


Cornell 20, Yale 10

Freshman face-off specialist Jack Cascadden ( Garden City ’22) went 2 for 5 from the X to help get some possession for Cornell. Jack Monfort (Syossett ’19) scooped up 4 ground-ball’s and also had 2 caused turnover’s for Yale.


Division II:

Adelphi 17, Southern New Hampshire 7 

Joseph Duchnowksi (St. Anthony’s ’19) put up a hat trick for Adelphi this week! He also scooped up a ground-ball in win over Southern New Hampshire.


Anderson (SC) 14, Lander 9

Matthew Rodgers (Carmel ’22) put 3 in the back of Lander’s net, to help Anderson (SC) win 14-9.


Assumption 28, Franklin Pierce 7

Colin Malone (St. John the Baptist ’20) continues to thrive between the pipes for Assumption with 7 saves on 11 shots faced, going 64% in net, to help in over Franklin Pierce.


Division III:

Ohio Wesleyan 23, Albright 7 

Garrett Smith (Hamilton Southern ’22) had a goal and assist to help Ohio Wesleyan in win against Albright.

Geneseo 13, SUNY Maritime 8 

A great day from our alumni helped in win for Geneseo. Jimmy Atkinson (Northport ’21) had a 4 point performance with 2 goals and 2 assists. He also picked up 3 ground-balls and had a caused turnover. William McCumiskey (Chaminade ’19) had a hat trick that helped Geneseo’s offense. Rob Boniello (Division Avenue ’20) had a goal and an assist to help in win over SUNY Maritime.

Scranton 13, Sewanee 9 

Attack-man Joe Boyle (St. Anthony’s 21) had 2 goals and an assist from Scranton in win over Sewanee.

Wesleyan 19, Salve Regina 7

Alex Moynihan (Cold Spring Harbor ’20) put in two goals for Wesleyan and had an assist as well. Devin O’ Sullivan (Chaminade ’21) also put one in the back of the cage in big win against Salve Regina.

Muhlenberg 8, Emerson 2 

Starting Goalkeeper for the Muhlenberg lacrosse team Max May (Hewlett ’19) went 6 for 8 on saves this game going 71% in win against Emerson.

Lake Forest 13, FDU – Florham 10

Jacob Lipson (Chaminade ’22) had a great day in net for Lake Forest with 7 saves on the day going 41% in win against FDU -Florham.
