PISCATAWAY, N.J. - Rutgers men's lacrosse mourns the loss of All-American Bob Vencak, who passed away on Tuesday at the age of 57. Vencak, a three-time All-American defenseman at Rutgers, will be inducted into the Rutgers Athletics Hall of Fame on October 20th.
Vencak starred on defense for the Scarlet Knights from 1979 to 1982, captaining the 1982 squad to a 10-2 record, the first Rutgers team to reach double-digit victories. A three-time winner of the William Miller Trophy, he played in the 1982 North vs. South All-Star Game. He went on to play internationally for Team USA, earning a Gold Medal and was selected to the 'All World Team'. He was also inducted into the Long Island Lacrosse Hall of Fame.
Services will be held this week on Thursday and Friday at the Branch Funeral Home, 190 East Main Street, Smithtown, NY, on Thursday from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. and Friday from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Mass will be Saturday at St. Joseph's Church in Kings Park, NY at 10:30 a.m.

The "Robert Vencak Foundation Inc" has been created to assist in the education cost for his son Cole as well a scholarship that is to be given to a High School Lacrosse player that has the qualities and competitive traits that Bob had throughout his life.
